About Kurt Larson
Prior to law school, Kurt graduated from Drury College
in Springfield, Missouri, receiving a BA in English, with distinction. Kurt graduated in the top of his class from the University of Oklahoma College of Law
in 1992, and thereafter spent the summer in Washington D.C., working with trial attorneys at the U.S. Department of Justice.
Kurt has always practiced in Missouri, and has always concentrated his practice in litigation. Before forming Larson Law Firm, Kurt spent seven years as a partner in a firm that took a high volume of personal injury cases. There, Kurt focused his practice on trying and settling cases literally hundreds of cases, primarily involving general personal injury litigation, products liability, premises cases, and commercial vehicle crashes. In that time frame, Kurt tried and settled more cases than most lawyers do in their entire career.
In 2001, Kurt started his own firm with the goal in mind of reducing his caseload to those cases where justice demanded the clients have the full and uncompromised attention of a solid trial attorney, prepared to take their case to trial if the need arose. His firm has been successful, which has given him time to give back to his community.
Kurt's community involvement is diverse, and includes volunteering time toward, and sponsorship of, a number of local and state organizations including the DWI Task Force, the Underage Drinking Task Force
, Ozark Greenways Trails
, Drury College
, the Ozark Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America
, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association
, and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys
.
One of Kurt's greatest projects, however, is the Safe and Sober Prom Night program, designed to keep our students and others from being injured by deterring dangerous and irresponsible behavior that leads to accidents. As a trial lawyer, Kurt has spent his career representing local families devastated by irresponsible drivers.
Since 2005, Kurt has given presentations at our local and regional high schools, illustrating in words and pictures how irresponsible behavior has killed and seriously injured people from this community. It is a sobering reality check for our young adults about to graduate high school. Kurt then encourages our students to take a pledge - a written commitment to their parents - to stay drug and alcohol free on prom night. Students are given incentives to keep their commitment, including a chance to win cash. Students are also provided with wristbands, t-shirts, and window stickers to outwardly show their commitment to remain free of alcohol and drugs. We have seen in some cases almost 90% of a high school student body take this pledge, which tells us that Kurt is making a difference. Prom through Graduation is statistically the most dangerous time of the year for high school students to be involved in crashes.
Kurt and his wife Sally support this program with their time and money, and they have also garnered the support of the local schools and the business community, who support the program financially. Community Support allows us to bring this program to the schools at no cost to schools.
In addition to this, Kurt enjoys time with his wife Sally, daughter Lindsey, son Thomas, his friends, and his church.
